Question QUESTION: I have Maytag A712 washer. From your answer to similar question, where my washer turned to remove the water but would not turn clockwise to wash, I changed the belt with the part number you recommended. It did not fix the problem. Any more ideas are very welcome. Sooner the answer, better it will be for us.
Thanks,
Mohan
ANSWER: What happens when the machine fills and then the water stops? At this point something should happen. Actually the motor should start...Does it but just not turn the agitator?

QUESTION: Thanks for reply. When the machine is filled with water. In regular cycle, it runs for some time and then start making noises and we start smelling burning of rubber. I can go to delicate cycle and get rid of the water. I checked the belts again today and seem to be fine. When I spin the pulley from the bottom, it has resistance at time and turns but I noticed the agitator does not move. Sometimes it runs and sometimes it does not run. Please help and reply as soon as possible. It will be highly recommended to my friends.
I can monitor the current although it has not tripped the breaker yet. It seems that something is binding. Pump and motor seems to be ok.
Thanks,
Mohan
Answer If the pump and the motor seem fine the only other item that could be resisting would be the inner tub stem and boot seal kit. There is also a race in there that after the seal kits begins leaking a drip at a time, starts corroding the race. Next step would be to dismantle the inner tub assembly and get down to the dirty work. No easy repair here.....Eric
