Question you responded to my question about two weeks ago regarding the dryer going through its cycle working normally, heat shutting off, but drum continuing to turn because the timer had stopped just short of off. You offered a used timer if you recall which I have since determined is not the problem. In looking at the circuit diagram there is a black 4600-4900 ohm resistor next to the start button which tests open and appears to be a current supply to a second source of power to the timer reducing 220 to 110. Does this sound right to you as the source of the problem? Thanks
Answer The resistor is normally to advance the timer motor as the resistance on the motor decreases because of the weight of the wet clothing getting lighter while drying and the motor does not need as much current to turn the motor. This then allows more current to go to the timer motor and continue to advance it. The timer is a large switch box and it works on 110 volts for the motor and 110 volts for the heating element. If you check, the L2 coming off the terminal block goes directly to the motor and while the motor is running, it passes that L2 (110 volts) to one side of the heating element. The other 110 coming from the timer completes the 220 volt circuit to the heating element. If I quoted the timer, you must have suppied the model number. If you need further assitance, I will need that number again....
