Major Appliances - GE Refer Dispenser Light Problem

Expert: Eric Campion - 11/6/2009

Question
The Dispenser Nite Light on my GE TPN21PRSM side-by-side refrigerator does not illuminate.  When the Light Switch is OFF, the lamp is off and when pressing a glass against the ice dispenser switch, the ice auger opertes but the ice maker door solenoid does not open to allow ice to drop into a glass.  When the Light Switch is ON, but there's no bulb in the socket, the same results. When there's a (new)4W bulb installed, as soon as the Light Switch is turned ON, the bulb does not light but the solenoid operates, opening the  door ice chute which remains open as long as the Light Switch is ON. (Pressing the ice dispenser switch will deliver ice thru the opened chute door, but has no affect on the chute solenoid.) Any ideas of the problem cause and/or can you provide a source for the electrical schematic for this refrigerator?
