Major Appliances - GE dryer auto starts when selecting timed dry

Question
I have a GE dryer model DBXR463ED1WW. When selecting the timed process on the far right side of the machine, it automatically starts before the "start" is selected from the "start" switch on the far left side of the machine. If I leave the dryer door open - this prevents the machine from autostart.

Answer
One of two things is the culprit....either the start switch is shorted or the motor switch is shorted. Check both and let me know what you find.
