Question Our Whirlpool washing machine is extremely noisy in the wash cycle. Every time the agitator reverses direction there's a loud 'clunk.' The machine is just over two years old.

Unfortunately you may have a bad transmission, and as most of Whirlpools washers only have a one year warranty on them you may be out of luck on this , however I would advise you to read your warranty information carefully as some did have a longer warranty on the transmission.
