Major Appliances/Kenmore washer

QUESTION: We have a fifteen year old Kenmore washer that has a part (looks like  plastic) on the top that has turned yellow from old age, I think.  I would like to take it off and give it a good cleaning, but don't know how it is fastened on. Its function is to distribute bleach on one side, and fabric softener on the other as the washer runs through it's cycle. Do you have to take the metal top off to get it off, or does it just pop on to the top?    Model Number is 110.28972890.   Your help is greatly appreciated.   Richard

ANSWER: I know what you are speaking of.... The whole outer cabinet must come off the washer to access the bottom of these dispensers to release tabs.  There are hoses that must be disconnected and then you can have them to clean.  Not an easy task....You real mechanical or have someone to do it for you.....?

Waiting to hear from you,

Hello Richard,
On the outer top of your washer on the console are two end caps....just the fronts pop off exposing two screws at the bottom of your console end caps.  Remove the covers and then watch this video.....

If I can help further.....      Eric
