Major Appliances - Dishwasher Troubleshooting

Expert: Eric Campion - 6/9/2007

Question
My dishwasher all of the sudden stopped working completely.  It worked fine earlier in the week, then went to start it today and nothing.  It seems like an electrical problem, don't know if there is a fuse in it or where it would be.  None of the maytag manuals on their site list this or have this problem in their troubleshooting area.  It was here when I bought the house, so don't have a manual, and can't see a model number.  But the previous owner installed it in October 2002 for $539.28.  Crossreferencing this and appearance on the maytag website, I looked through all possible manuals and found nothing.  I also reset all breakers in my box with no results.

Answer
Hello Larry,
The model number is on the exterior of the dishwasher cavity.   It will say model number and serial number, I need the model number.   The door switches will stop power if they are not being depressed because the door isn't shutting perfectly or one of the switches has failed.   I would be looking in the latch assembly, if you have a meter you can test the door switches.   Thank you for your request, I will wait to hear from you, don't forget that model number so we can help.   Ann
