Question Hi. I was wondering if you could help...I have a cool skin tone (I think!) with very pale pinkish/blue/mauveish skin, blue eyes, and naturally dark/dirty blond hair. Is that a cool skin tone? My problem is that I use a gradual tanning product regularly, and also I dyed my hair really dark, slightly reddish brown. Is this the right hair colour? With the tanning moisturizer my skin is a kind of peachy warm tan , which goes very orange if I use too much of the product by accident. Should I still stick to the colours for my natural skin tone, or use ones which match the tan? And if the hair colour is too dark or the wrong tone how can I lighten it without frying it too much? I am very confused.
Answer As far as the hair color goes, I can't tell you whether it's correct for your skin tone or not. I would have to see you in person. If you feel you need help with your color or you want to lighten it up then I would recommend seeing a hair color expert. My hairdresser is fabulous and is the reason I went from blond to red, and I have gotten amazing compliments ever since. If you find someone good they will know exactly what color fits your skin tone the best.
For skin tone, I guess it would depend on whether you want to look tan all the time or not. With the red hair color I would stay away from the self-tanners. Beautiful milky skin looks amazing with dark red hair. It sounds like you are a cool, but without seeing you in person or a good quality picture I can't say for sure. And then you can play up the milky color of your skin and darkness of the hair with deep purple toned eyeliners, eyeshadows, and mascara. Or green tones. If you are asking about foundations, most people I work with have two colors, one for when they are tan and one for when they are not, and they mix the two when they are in between.
