Question Hello, I have oily acne prone skin, and it seems like everytime I moisturize it, I get oily and break out. I was recently using biore, clean and clear and olay and broke out. I'm looking for a moisturizer for day and one for night that won't break me out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Answer Hello Bella~
You need a good oil-free moisturizer daily. Use the same product again at night after cleansing your skin as outlined below. During the day, it will provide a barrier between your skin and the pollutants in the air which invade your skin and cause breakouts as well as premature aging. There are many good ones on the market. They won't clog your pores, but it will keep your skin nicely conditioned and eliminate the drying you're experiencing. Aveeno makes a good one. I happen to like Aveeno products, but there are several good products on the market.
Also, I want to share this common response I give to anyone wanting to clear up their breakouts. The main things that contribute to breakouts are diet, bacteria and pore-clogging make-up. Here are some common tips I offer anyone with breakouts....
1) Diet. Drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water daily to help keep your skin clear. A diet of fried foods, processed foods or one that's sugar-laden could also be a contributor.
2) Bacteria. Proper cleansing with an exfoliating cleanser once daily can make a huge difference. Touching your face excessively (talking with your hand propping up your chin, for instance) will contribute to breakouts.
3) Look for non-comedogenic make-up products - they are less likely to cause breakouts. Most brands of make-up are non-comedogenic, which means they won't clog your pores. Since your skin is prone to acne try to find products that are non-comdeogenic, oil-free (water-based), hypoallergenic (unlikely to cause an allergic reaction) and fragrance free.
Keep applying a drying agent, such as peroxide to a pimple daily/nightly to make it go away quickly. But, do not pick at it!
Good luck, Bella!
