Makeup & Skincare - permanent lip liner

Expert: McKenzie Hayes - 4/11/2006

Question
Hello!  I'm not sure if you can help me, but for all of my life, I have had crooked, uneven lips.  To hide my uneven lips, I've had to use lip liner to reshape them almost everyday.  I get so tired and irritated at having to line them everyday, and to have to keep checking to make sure it hasn't come off throughout the day.  It prevents me from normal activities that many take advantage of...such as swimming, excercising, etc.  I'm willing to pay decent money for a permanent lip liner...one that will actually stay on and stay put no matter what.  My lips are humiliating without liner.  I've done research on my own, but I have not been able to find a permanent lip liner.  I don't want a semi-permanent lip liner, but one that will always stay on.  If you can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.  Thank you!

Answer
Dear Amanda,
I don't suggest permanent lip liner because you will have to live with the same color on your lips for the rest of your life. I love to switch up lip colors when I do people's makeup, because it gets boring to do the same thing, day after day. Another option you might try is making an appointment with a plastic surgeon, and he can inject captique into your lips in the uneven areas to plump them up. Now, there are pros and cons to this. The pros are, you can change your lipliner color every day, and you may not even need lip liner. Your lips will be more even and plump and beautiful. The cons are, it hurts. And it isn't cheap, but neither is permanent makeup. Permanent makeup can cost anywhere from $100- $600. Captique injections usually cost $500 per treatment. It really depends on what you want. If you are willing to live with the same color on your lips, and this is really what you want to do, go to google.com, clck "local" above the search bar on the website, and type "permanent makeup; your city, your state" and it should bring up results of where to get permanent makeup. If you want to try the lip injections instead, go to google.com, click "local" above the search bar on the website, and type "plastic surgeons; your city, your state". Look through the results, and get the phone numbers of some plastic surgeons in your city. Call one and schedule an appointment. Tell him/her what you would like, and he/she can schedule a treatment in which he will inject captique or any other plumpers into your lips to give you a more even look. Good luck!
