Question Hi. I am trying to start a indie. Film making career, and I think I have everything straight, except the camera. I have looked at many models from canons GL-2 to whatever you can imagine but they are all too expensive. Then I ran across the Panasonic AG-HSC1U. It doesnt use minidv or anything, it uses a flash card, and records in AVCHD format, and is 3ccd with image stabilization and everything, fully manual controls like iris, shutter, gain, white balance, mic levels(BTW it has 5 built-in mic elements for 5.1 surround), color bars, and zebra stripes. It sounds pretty good, but it is seems too good to be true. Since im soaking up opinions like they're going extinct, what do you think?
Is it a practical all-in-one solution for a budgeted project?
Answer Flash card technology is probably the ideal format besides film for shooting on. However, the cards are very expensive and you will be required to re-record over them, sometimes within hours of the prior use UNLESS you spend a lot of money and buy a lot of flash cards.
