Question
Aside from the internet what are the distribution possibilities of short films?

Answer
Hi Jason,

TV is the first distributor that come to mind.

Pay cable channels, such as HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc., purchase shorts to fill in the time between feature movies--in order for the feature movies to start at the hour and half hours.

Additionally, many cable providers acquire shorts for their own entertainment programming, such as ON-DEMAND services, which they provide as one of their "free" services to their paying subscribers.

Airlines also purchase shorts for their entertainment platforms, either before and/or after feature movies or shown on their own for shorter flights.  Just be aware that most of the shorts purchased for airline flights usually fall under the PG/G rating, because of the obvious wide ranged audience on a flight.

There are production companies/distributors that do release collections of shorts directly to DVD, however with the increased usage of the internet, the frequency of shorts to DVDs have greatly decreased over the years.

I hope this answers your question.

Good luck on all your future endeavors.
