Question Horizontal lines of static appear on my video either when the subject moves or the camera moves. Why does this happen? Is it a result of my video capture editing program or a problem with the camera (a Canon GL2)?
Answer I have also seen vertical lines of static that appear on some non linear editing programs but I don't recall if I have seen horizontal lines, maybe I have seen both. Lol, which is just one of a long line of reasons as to why I have not personally dived into NLE, yet, and instead have focused more on precise and instant color correction and consistent audio levels via high resolution videotape editing.
Try importing a different video camera recording into your video editing program to see if you get the same static result. You can also try your existing video tape in an entirely different NLE system to see if you get the same problem, perhaps you know someone with a different system than yours, or, even the same system as yours!
However before you attempt either of those two options you should do a google search for an internet users group that uses your exact video editing software program and also helps troubleshoot problems such as you are having.
