About Ron Egerton
Expertise
I can tell you a great deal about air travel, coach travel and train travel througout Malaysia and Thailand Also tourist destinations, hotels and shopping. Also about the people.

Experience
I have been travelling to Malaysia for almost ten years, and living in Malaysia full time, married to a Malaysian, for the past four years.
I have travelled extensivly throughout the country also.
I do not know whether you need a separate form filled in, but I have also travelled extensively through Thailand and as I mentioned above, I am an Australian, having lived in Queensland for my earlier life and travelled the length and breadth of that stae.
I am now semi retired and have the time, and the inclination to help people out.
Thank you,
Ron Egerton

Question
Hi Ron. My question is - What is the convenient transport from Genting highlands to Penang. My wife and me can take a day taxi also, but wanted to know if there is any overnight train, or comfortable bus service. If there's no overnight option or such, how much would a taxi cost approximately in early August '08. Please suggest any good bus/train option too.

thanks a ton for your help.

Answer
Hi ashish,
Mate not a great problem really but forget train.

Genting has a bus that runs from the Puda Raya bus station and I think also from the airport.

Taxi to Penang okla, but bus get VIP more comfortable.
However the way I would go and if u book early not expensive is with Firefly Airline.a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines. They fly a Fokker from the old airport at Subang, closer to the city and about a 30 minute flight and you land in Panang and miss most of the traffic.
Want to know more please ask.
regards,
Ron
