Malta - Ferries & schengen visas

Expert: Michelle Grech - 11/19/2008

Question
Hi Michele,
I am driving to Malta through Italy with my Russian girlfriend, who has a Schengen visa.
what are the best ferry connections? and are there any special entry points to stay in the Schengen zone, as I do not wish to have any problems with my girlfriend's entry visa?
Many thanks,
Claude

Answer
Hi Claude

sorry for delay but i'm away on holiday. the easiest entry point is with the virtu ferries catamaran from catania or pozzallo. pozzallo is only a 1.5 hours crossing.go to  www.virtuferries.com for schedules and costs.

not sure about your girlfriend's situation. you might want to call the local immigration or make enquiries with the the russian embassy but i am under the impression that once you are in europe you can't be stopped anywhere.

Regards,
MIchelle
