Malta - watersports in October

Expert: Michelle Grech - 4/23/2008

Question
I am considering a holiday to Malta in the second half of October with our 2 teenagers. Where are we best to stay to access a good range of watersports e.g. windsurfing, kayaking, ?body boarding at that time of year

Answer
Hi alison

if you don't want to travel to the beaches you can stay at a hotel right on the beach either in Mellieha or at Golden Bay. There are more choices in Mellieha as in Golden Bay there is only the 5 star Radisson which is very posh! In Mellieha you can find the Mellieha Bay Hotel or the Sea Bank which are right on the beach and then a few more in town up the hill. In October the water is still pretty warm but we start getting the odd shower. You might want to stay somewhere more central if you intend to do sight seeing too and travel to the beach on the days which you want to do watersports. However, if you're only interested in watersports Mellieha bay is the place you should stay. At that time of year however the evenings would have quieted down and your teenager kids might want a bit more life than Mellieha has to offer.
Hope this helps.

Michelle
