Malta - WHAT IS THE BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN MALTA

Expert: Michelle Grech - 7/18/2008

Question
Hi, im visitng Malta in September and was wondering where the best place would be to go for a nice beach holiday..where theres not much tourist.. and also a decent distance from the airport.

Answer
Hello Ray

All the nice sandy beaches are on the northern side of the island. I think that the best area is Mellieha where there is one of the longest beaches in Malta and also restaurants and hotels. The village up the hill is also a sweet village so all in all you'll have access to a bit of everything. The beach is very popular however in September, tourist would have reduced a bit. There are a few less frequented beaches but you might have problems getting to them for example Selmun bay. Gozo, the siser island,  is quiter and there are lovely beaches there too. however, you will have to get a ferry from one island to another which is not that difficult. Malta is small and everything is in close proximity. Ramla Bay hotel is a nice hotel on a beach which is not so crowded but then there is not much elso to do as it's purely beach. Depends what you want.

Hope this helps.
