Question
QUESTION: Hey Michelle... We are from South-Arica and will be visiting Malta from 27 Dec. to 9 Jan. I have just a couple of questions:
1) What is the costs of a Coca-Cola? (just so I can compare the prices)
2) What is the average temperature that time of the year?
3) Will it be warm enough to swim?
4) Are there any festivals that time of the year?

Thank You

ANSWER: Hi

1 cost of a coca cola from a normal bar would be between Eur1 to Eur1.5
2. Average temperature would be around 15 degrees.
3. The water temp would have gone down to abour 18 degrees by then. some tourists do swim on a nice sunny day but the locals usually stop at the end of october/beg of november.
4. Since its christmas time most events would be religous and with a christmas / new year theme. festivals are usually more found in summer.

That time of year is great for sight seeing as it's not hot and you can visit all the temples, churches, and other places of interest. i wouldn't come for water sports at that time of year! We do have a winter contrary to what some people think that it's only sun sun sun.

Hope this helps.

Michelle

QUESTION: Thank you for your previous help, I have new questions for you:
1) How far is The Pergola Club in Mellieha from the Luqa airport?
2) Are there any trams running in Malta?

Thank You, Again

Answer
Marchann

1) The island is relatively small, the distance between luqa airport and the pergola is between 30 ot 45 minutes by car, which by maltese standards is pretty far!

2) There are no trams or trains here, just normal busses. At that time of year car rental would be pretty cheap and it makes it so much easier to travel around. With public transport trips can take a bit longer than you'd like them to.  if u hire a car you will also have transport to and from the airport sorted as taxis to mellieha can be expensive. Car rental can be as little as Eur16 for a small car.

Mellieha is up north and unless you're spending most of your time on the beaches in the area (which i doubt you will in december) you will need to venture more central and even to the south. public transport is going to be a bit difficult and lengthy. having said that, when you're on holiday you're never in a hurry to get anywhere! however i would seriously consider renting a car if you want to get the most out of your holiday.

let me know if you need more info.
