Malta/Costs!

Question
Hi we are arriving in malta on the 5th May 2009 for our holiday, staying in the Solana Hotel in Melleiha on a Bed and Breakfast basis. How much does a meal cost? how much is beer? How much is it to travel on the buses? Is there a weekly bus pass I can buy? Do you think £800 for 2 people is enough for lunch, evening meal, a few drinks and a lot of sight seeing? thanks

Answer
Dear Chris

I would budget for an average of Eur20/per person for every meal - this would be a one course meal, desert, water and wine.
A local beer costs around eur1 to eur1.50.
Buses are very cheap, about Eur0.50 per trip and slightly more expensive for the direct routes. There is a weekly pass costing Eur13.98. you can get more info about the buses here:www.atp.com.mt/atp/servlet/ControllerServlet?action=loadUserPage&userPageName=mainPage
You did not tell me how long the Gbp800 have to stretch, are you here for a week or 2 or more?! If it is for a maximum of 2 weeks i think that you should be ok. i always suggest a credit card as a backup plan though!
hope this helps
