Question Hi,
I'm moving to Malta at the end of September. for five to six months as im going studying at the university. Just wondering what is the cost of living in Malta like, in comparison with Ireland, in regards to the usual, shopping , going out and any excursions??? Cant get a exact answer to my question anywhere and I want to be prepared before I move out.
Thanks
Mairead!
Answer hi mairead
on the whole i would say malta is cheaper than most western european countries. however, certain items, because we are small and are not imported in bulk, might be a bit more expensive....for example clothes, shoes and similar items. i feel that entertainment here is cheaper, to give you an idea a movie will cost you Eur7, an alcoholic drink from a normal bar/pub about Eur2 whilst a meal like a plate of pasta or a pizza and a drink will cost you about Eur10. the good thing here is that you can enjoy yourself with spending very little since the weather is very mild and even grabbing a take-away and eating it on a beach can be a very pleasant night out!
it is difficult to answer a question like this exactly. Public transport are also very cheap her only 47c a bus ride to any destination!
hope i gave you an idea. if you have any specific items you want to know the cost of let me know and i'll try to find out for you.
hope you'll enjoy your time in Malta.
