Question QUESTION: Hi, I will be visiting malta for 2 weeks from october 9th this year, could you advise on how much a avergae meal woudl cost for the 2 of us??, what the weather will be like?? and o you think around 500 Lira woudl be enough money for sightseeing and some shopping and eating out everynight?
ANSWER: Hi Simon
the average meal ie a plate of pasta, wine, dessert and coffee would cost you about Eur14 (lm6) each. a 3 course meal in a posh restaurant would cost you around Lm15 (Eur35) each. I think that Lm500 wll be enough for sightseeing and meals. not sure about shopping though. I would leave my credit card for that!

QUESTION: thanks for the information- was a little worried we would not have enough money for the 2 of us - so from your answer 500 lira shoudl be enough to feed us for 2 weeks??? We have hired a car from Buggibba - is petorl cheap out there - we pay in the uk 95 english pence per litre - sorry for all the questions but just dont want to run out of money whilst i am on holiday!! - also any places i should definitley visit??
Answer The cost of petrol is Lm0.46 (GBP0.73) and the distances are short. No M1's here! As for places to visit i would definitely go to:
Mdina (the old walled city),
Valletta - the capital,
the Hypogeum (an underground temple) and Hagar Qim temples if you like that sort of stuff.
Marsaxlokk - our main fishing village;
Gozo - the sister island which you will have to get the ferry from Cirkewwa,
A harbour cruise,
an evening meal at the newly restored Valletta waterfront where you can enjoy a meal with the view of the three cities opposite the harbour;
if you go to www.visitmalta.com you can get a good idea of what's available.
