Question Hi, Michelle!
We will be in Malta in three weeks for an afternoon (1 to 7pm) stop. We are 3 people, aged 60, 61 and 68. All of us are mobile, but cannot walk or stand for long periods of time (uneven ground doesn't bother us, nor a reasonable number of steps, as long as there are handrails). Question: can we do Hypogeum or is it too much walking/stairs? If not, what sort of land tour do you suggest (just Mdina/Valletta or Island Panoramic Drive, though I saw someone post that by afternoon, the only view you see from above at Blue Grotto is an oil slick)?
Answer Hi Diane
I think you'll be fine with the hypogeum. its gorgeous there and has been restored really well. However, if it was me and i was only here for one afternoon, i would try to get a feel of the island by going on an island panoramic drive. don't know anything about the oil slick, i mean the valley has become a bit of a port for tiny boats but its not dirty at all. i dive there regularly and have never been in any oil slick! mdina and valletta are both must-see places however, since they are both pedestrian zones you might have to do a fair bit of walking. Whatever you choice will be i hope that you will enjoy your short visit to the island.
