Question I just recently bought a maltese puppy, and these couple of days we have let him sleep in our bedroom in his crate. Then, yesterday we decided to move him over to the other bedroom for bigger space to run and it's wooden floor so it's better for him and for us when he make a mess. My boyfriend and I left him in the room yesterday with the radio on low to entertained him and he wines because it's a new room i guessed, then we both have to leave for work. When I returned at night, he was really hyper and VERY happy to see me. Do you think he'll get used to the new room and be Okay on his own like this when we both are not at home? And we have to leave him be by himself like this for 2 times a week for 6 hours each time. Do you think it's okay? Will he get used to the fact that we're leaving him like this 2 nights a week? Cooper is my first pet, I can't concentrate at work because i missed him so much and worried about his new bedroom if he going to be okay. P.S. I read your replies from other people and I thought you're the BEST! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
Answer Firstly, STOP WORRYING LADY!!
Two nights a week thats nothing, some people leave their dogs five days a week or more all day.
Its great that your so concerned though and it seems that he has gone to a very good home, he will get used to the room but just like anything it will come in time, may i suggest when your home sitting and playing in the room with him. also if he is a pup you could get him into a routine of him having a nap everyday as they often do my breeder who was great had lots of dogs and when we went to pick our maltese up the dogs were barking but then when it came to ten oclock they all just went to sleep and the house was silent and im talking a lot of dogs lol! its just learning them to do it from being a pup lol but if you get him into a cyle of sleeping before you go he should get used to it just put him in his crate at same time and say night time or whatever... but its all up to you but please dont worry about him being on his own for that time as its not long at all.
as long as hes in a safe environment he will be fine.
Good luck with your new pup also let me know how you get on and if your struggling maybe i can be more help.
