Question
I have a Maltese puppy that is 1 year and 4 months old, she weighs about 7lbs.  When we got her, we would take her out every 15 mins, we have crate trained her, and we are sure to take her out after she eats.  I would say the past 6 months or so, after we take her out and she usually squats to pee 2-3 times on a single walk and will poop once.  When we go to bring her back in, if we need to go upstairs even for like 2 minutes she will go to the couch or the front door and poop again and sometimes pee again.  I almost feel like she does it in spite because we went upstairs.  We have a 2 story townhouse and we block off the stairs so she cant go up with a baby gate, since she is not potty trained.  And she stays in her crate (which she loves) when we leave the house or go to sleep.  We are just getting very frustrated with her.  Also I have one other question, When we come home from work for the day and go to take her out of her crate she pee's front he excitement I think, before we can get her outside, is there any way to stop her from doing that?  I appreciate your help!  Thanks a bunch.

Answer
Gosh i bet you really want to resolve this lol!! it seems like an anxiety issue like you say it looks like she does it in spite lol but perhaps it is an attention thing.
I would suggest beginning as routine again maybe introducing a training pad out side to further encourags toilet outside. As for the pee with excitement, i know a lot of dogs that do this when their owners return home lol there are trails all over the floor lol i would suggest not paying her any affection or attention until she has been outside however if the problem persists please see your vet as it may be a bladder problem do you? seeing as it is still happening?
Good luck contact me again for further help
