Question
Sir, Can u tell me what is the interaction between science, technology and business? How to these interactions affect industrial growth? Discuss with suitable examples.

Rgds kalpakam

Answer
Hi Kalpakam,
they are all linked as follows: Let's take a vision or an idea (for business purpose), how would you realize that? Let's take the mobile phone... somebody might have thought: "wow, would be nice if everybody could reach me all the time"... so:

1. you need to think how it can be done, e.g. research, theoretical approach, visions etc. this is the science part or also the answer to the "how it could work"
2. then you go into the reality work, prototype creation, testing, etc. and finally production. This is the technology part or also the answer to the "how it is done"
3. and finally, you try to get the return out of it, e.g. marketing, distribution, life cycle management and so on. this is the business part or also (in most of todays innovations/inventions) the answer to the "why" = money/profit or fame/prestige

I hope this example illustrates the basic flow. Of course when you talk about industrial growth it depends if you look back or into the future. In the longer past I would say that the biggest industrial achievement was certainly the invention of the assembly-line (used e.g. in manufacturing of cars by Ford) when you look into the present it's certainly IT technology, Collaboration, Smart IT, etc. and in the future it's going to be mainly (hopefully) around green power, ecology and environment.

If you can't use the example above, I would recommend you take it and try to apply it e.g. to solar-, wind or other form of ecological power and related science, technology and business (you'll find extensive material in wikis or the the general web)

regards E.
