Expert: Brian Thompson - 3/30/2009

Question
Sir, I would appreciate if you could answer my following questions:
Take any company of your choice and analyse its capital structure and comment upon the factors influencing the pattern of capital structure.
2. What do you understand by cost of capital? How is the cost of the following components of capital ascertained?
a) Long term debt
b) Preference capital
c) Equity capital
d) Retained earnings
3. Critically analyse the various methods used for evaluating investment proposals.
4. Make a social cost benefit analysis of any major project undertaken in your state.
5. What are the various methods used for measurement of project risk..
6. Do a small survey and list the various life and general insurance products available in the market. Explain the main characteristics of these products.

Answer
I know these things are difficult but you must find the answers by doing the research yourself not relying on someoneelse's experience.
This is far too broad for a panel such as this to answer such a question.
I will answer one question for you; the cost of capital is what an organisation must pay in order to obtain the financing it needs to continue it's enterprise. This is determined by risk.
