Question
I'm attending tonight's Barry Manilow concert being touted as his "First Time Ever" at the Hollywood Bowl. However, my sister and I remember accompanying our Dad to a Barry Manilow concert at the Bowl back in the early 1980s. Can you confirm and offer an explanation why tonight is considered "First ever"?

Thank you for contacting me through All Experts. As for an explanation as to why Barry's concert at the Hollywood Bowl on October 24, 2009 is considered his "first ever", it is because this is the first time he has ever played that venue as a solo artist. That would explain why you may have seen him at that venue back in the early 1980's. Also, Barry said in a recent interview regarding the upcoming concert at the Hollywood Bowl, "I am as surprised as anyone that I have never played the Hollywood Bowl before." Therefore, to the best of my knowledge, Barry's concert tonight (10/24/2009) at the Hollywood Bowl is indeed his first ever solo appearance at that venue.
