Answer Hello, Coreen!
Thank you for contacting me through All Experts. As for your question regarding why Barry is leaving the Hilton, he has not made any comment about his reasons for making this decision. In addition, Barry is remaining mum about his plans for 2010 at this point other than he will release two albums in the months to come. "In The Swing Of Christmas" will be released on October 13th, and is available now for pre-order from Starz.bz. The "Barry Manilow Sings The Greatest Love Songs Of All Time" CD will be released in January 2010. Barry is also working on an original album called "Fifteen Minutes", which according to a note Barry wrote for BMIFC members will be released in the summer of 2010. Barry also sent a follow-up note to fan club members revealing that he will have hip surgery again in the next week or two after some fans started "freaking out" after some shows for October and November were recently cancelled. Apparently, the "freaking out" was getting out-of-control, and that prompted Barry to write the follow-up note and he stated he is having surgery on his hips again. You may remember he had arthroscopic hip surgery in late August 2006 after winning his second Emmy for the "Music and Passion" special on PBS. There have been rumors that Barry may headline in Vegas at another theatre on the Strip, but nothing has been confirmed at this time. I suspect Barry and his management may be waiting until he has healed from the upcoming surgery before they commit to any such project. In the meantime, we have new CDs to look forward to, and we need to rally around Barry and support him as he goes through the upcoming hip surgery and an intense recovery period. After all, we are his fans and as such we are an integral part of his support system. That being the case, I think we should all keep him in our thoughts and prayers and send him as much positive energy as possible as he goes through the hip surgery and while he is healing and recuperating.
