AboutJohn W Baldwin Expertise I can answer almost any question about Barry`s music and videos: Content, lyrics, instruments, arrangements. You know -- the important stuff! **** Please Note: I don't work for Barry or his organizations. I don't know him personally. I'm like that guy on PBS that talks about Mozart, the knowledge is based on 35 years of study, not from any insider information. **** --JB

Question My friend is having a "dispute" with an acquaintance about whether or not Barry Manilow ever sang and/or recorded the Morris Albert song, "Feelings". My friend and I say no, he didn't; her acquaintance says he did. Which one of us is right?
Answer You're right. The quintessential gut-wrenchingling overwrought pop song of the 1970s was -- thank Goodness -- not recorded by Barry Manilow. Those of us who are members of the Barry Manilow International Fan Club would never have heard the end of it.
"Feelings" was recorded by Morris Albert in 1975, and was a huge hit about the same time that Manilow was introducing us to "I Write the Songs". '75 was a great year for music -- you had variety and diversity on every radio station. "Feelings", as you may know, was a one-hit wonder for Albert. He never had another hit, but having a hit song at all is still a great accomplishment. As far as I know, it has never been successfully covered -- rerecorded by another artist. It has been poked fun of numerous times, like in the famous MC Hammer Pepsi commercial a few years back. --JB
