Marketing Research - types of interview qustions

Expert: Katherine A. O'Neill - 3/18/2009

Question
1.any example of open ended question?
2.any example of direct open ended question?
3.any example of close ended question?
4.any example of restatement question?

Answer
An open ended question asks something that cannot be answered categorically.  For example, "What are the benefits of exercise?"  The answer is then given as an explanation.  I'm not sure what they mean by direct open ended question.   A closed ended question asks for specific categorical answers.  For example:  "What is the more important benefit of exercise:  cardiovascular health or weight maintenance?"  The answer is either cardio health or weight maintenance.

A restatement question is one in which the interviewer restates an answer given by the interviewee.  For example, "So, in your opinion, weight loss is the more important benefit of exercise, is that correct??"
