Marketing Research - Marketing statistics

Expert: Katherine A. O'Neill - 8/6/2009

Question
If not from you, where might I find an approximate idea of how many potential advertisers there are in the U.S.A?  Basically, how many businesses, churches, non-profits., etc. are there?

If that's not possible, just to get a rough idea of some of the categories would be somewhat helpful - i.e. How many churches, or auto service shops, or clothing retailers, or pizza places...

Answer
This is not my area of expertise, butI can give you a couple of suggestions.  First, I would go to the National Chamber of Commerce website and see if they could provide that information - or the US Small Business Administration. Next, just do a Google search for number of retail businesses by category.  Finally, try the statistical abstract of the US which is online.

Good Luck, Dave.
