About Jamey D. Olsen
Expertise
I can answer a wide range of questions - the pros and cons of many different arts, what works and what doesn’t, the differences between styles, as well as the history of styles or origins. I can advise on proper technique, how to apply techniques, or answer "How would you defend this?" type questions. I also have an extensive library of books and videos, so if you ask me about something I haven’t trained, I have the resources to track down an answer for you. I am also involved in the growing sport of MMA (mixed martial arts). For more detailed information on me and what I train and teach please check out my website www.keishidojo.com

Question
would K1 fighters make it in the mixed martial arts? I know k1 is stand up. They are extreme martial artist also.So all the pretty kicks that we see and wish we could do in real life comes to life in k1. but pride and ufc has grappling and ju jistu so they would be taken down if they were being fancy with kicks wouldn't they? What you belive?

Answer
Josh,

Some K1 fighters are from UFC and PRIDE, and can do both.  As to would K1 fighters do well in MMA, some would.  Yes they would have to learn some grappling to stay competitive but I have seen some good kickboxers do very well in UFC.

More than the event or style, I feel it is based on the individual.
MMA is a growing sport unlike any other where the more you know the better you are.

Enjoy,

JD
