Question Thank you for your time. Iv had 2 years of Jun Fan, 2 years of wado karate, some training in jui jistu, and started studying the old mae mai muay boran. To be honest with you to me, Jun Fan, muay thai boran and kali silat, and stuff is what a man needs to survive street situations. I just didn't care for karate as far as fighting. A lot of stuff just don't work and you'll get hurt whippy footing around. What you belive? I just don't trust a lot of these arts to protect me like i do Jun Fan and the Muay Boran and hardcore stuff.
Answer Josh,
A lot of what works for a person, depends on the person. More than any style I feel the person is what makes the difference. In the early UFC's Royce Gracie shocked the world with a non striking style of Jui-Jitsu, and recently there is a guy (I can't remember his name) that is undefeated in the UFC whose background is karate. A lot of things are of course dependent on the situation and the level of training as well.
I would say stay with what you like as you will be more confident and more eager and focused on your training.
I hope that helps,
J.D. Olsen
