I overheard a rather hilarious debate between two kids the other day about whether Bruce Lee should be called a "Ninja" or not.
One kid said no just because he didn't wear all black.
Another said definitely because he's that good at martial arts.
I wasn't a part of the conversation otherwise I would have
said that I thought that - in real life - the term was a bit more historical and also - in pop culture - that no, though amazingly
skilled, I didn't think he quite fit the bill.
But the debate did make me curious.
So I thought I would ask an expert - and I know the
question is a tad juvenile, but...is Bruce Lee a Ninja?
That's for an info you may have,
Kevin.
Answer Dear Kevin,
Bruce Lee's teacher of Wing Chun is my grandmaster.
Bruce Lee also studied Tai Chi, Zhan Zhuang (Stance) which are typically Ninja Kung Fu.
My understanding of Ninja, is that one can master the MA skill or not, instead of the types of kung fu one learns. Or does not matter what one dresses.
Karate, Boxing, etc can be Ninja as well, if one really understand the art.
What is Ninja about?
1 Physical strength and fitness
2. Qi Gong for internal strength
