Desiring to continue his personal studies in Asian cultures and customs, A.J. resided in Japan for almost a decade, earning black belts in Aikido, Jui-Jitsu Submission Fighting, Combative Weapons, and Ninpo Taijitsu. He also founded a mixed martial art called Total Fighting Concepts that is now being taught across America. A.J. is also a Certified Instructor in the women's self-defense program, BACK OFF! and was also the first BACK OFF! instructor to be awarded the title of Advanced Instructor.
A.J. has also completed bodyguard training through the International Bodyguard Association. During his time in Japan, A.J. continually conducted personal protection services to celebrities and VIPs. He has directed security for individuals at numerous high-profile functions in Tokyo, Japan and Shanghai, China. A.J. has been featured in both the Armed Forces Network Radio and T.V. stations overseas and has also been featured in many articles for the Stars and Stripes newspaper for his accomplishments with martial arts in the U.S. Armed Forces community. A.J. has also given demonstrations to colleges, university departments, and R.O.T.C. detachments in America educating kids on Asian warrior culture and traditions.
A.J. has been a part of several response teams for kidnap, ransom, and extortion operations in Asia, Europe, North and South America. He has conducted threat assessments, has taught hand-to-hand combat, aggressor neutralization, and reconnaissance methods and procedures to U.S. Law Enforcement, U.S. Military Police, and U.S. Military Special Operations members. A.J. is an expert in martial arts, combatives, and weapons, especially bladed weaponry.
