I also have a 6 month old mastiff puppy and she gets the hiccups everyday a couple of times a day - I do remember my mastiff and puppys in general getting hiccups while they were pups. And as for the barking - they are not big barkers - when they get older they will bark a little but it will usually be for a good reason.

I have the exact same two situations you have, but mine are shared between two dogs... lol

My Female Old Eng Mastiff also never barks, ever.. Where as my male, of the same age wont shut up.. She has had her throat and vocals checked, all is A-OK, it is just her nature.

My male has had the hic-ups every single day since he was very small. He is now 7 months. I would not be worried. all the best.

Our 11th month old English Mastiff gets hiccups all the time.  I press my thumbs on her brows above her eyes until they go away.  I saw a doctor do this to a woman that had hiccups that would not go away.  It seems to work.  I have read several articles that say English Mastiff do not bark alot.  Our English Mastiff does because we have to miniature schnauzers that have taught her well.  Talk to your vet.

Not barking at all is actually very common for mastiffs. They are a very quiet breed. They don't bark very often at all even as pups.

My female Mastiff always hiccups after she eats, and at night. You could set your watch by it. She didn't bark at all until my sister's dog taught her; she also taught her how to chase bunnies, lol, which I have thankfully broken her of since.

mastiffs tend not to bark unless something is really wrong or there is someone they dont know.
