Subject: can i get pregnant?

Question
Hi lori, last week i had upper stomach pain and heart burn. then went to see a dr here in Kuwait and dr gave medicine for ulcer. and it getting reduced. but not fully gone. actually we are trying to have our second baby in this month. last month we tried but didnt become pregnant.. but this month we wanted to get pregnant. my last periods was on 7th July and my cycle is fluctuating betwen 28,29,32 days.. my doubt is can i get pregnant when i ahve ulcer which is painful when i eat food. its reducing. still its not not gone fully. pls suggest..

Answer
I don't think having an ulcer would prevent you from conceiving - but it may aggravate it.  You may want to make sure that you don't have one - take care of it (sometimes if it's an ulcer a round of antibiotics will cure it).

Mention to your doctor that you are wanting to get pregnant and need your stomach to be okay.  Perhaps if you continue with the heartburn meds the ulcer will subside - but be mindful of it when you do eat and avoid foods that give you heartburn as much as you can.
