Question
does the black piano dash trim come out and also the three brushed alluminum pieces on the steering wheel. i ask because i would like to have them custom painted true red to match my car. i think it would add a nice touch.

Answer
The dash trim panels are snap locked into place.  The lower locks are somewhat accessible however, the uppers are not.  The only means of getting at them to release them is to remove the dash assembly and duct work.  The part is an add on to the dash so it is removable.

The trim plates on the steering wheel are parts of the assembly and are removable however, I personally have not disassembled the wheel assembly before on the 3rd generation models so can't give you the direction you may need, you will have to go hands on yourself.

One note of caution the SRS system is live and even with power disconnected the bag is capable of deployment so only trained technicians should disarm the system to avoid injury.
