Question What type of freon is in a 1995 Miata? My compressor runs for a few minutes then begins to labor and the belt slips. The belt seems to be adjusted properly. Any suggestions on first step for repair. Could the system be low of freon?
Answer R-134A
What you describe sounds more like it is overcharged or has air in the system. If you can charged it you most likely have introduced air into the system. It must be evacuated and recharged on a closed loop recovery machine to be properly charged. It could also be possible that your high pressure switch is not functioning. Putting the system on gauges and monitoring head pressure could tell you for sure.
