Mazda Repair/key stuck in ignition Mazda MPV

Potentially bad answer!
Mazda MPV have problems with failing gear shift change assembly ( includes park sensor micro switch)
Pull the fuse for the hazard lights ( 10amp) - if the key comes out, then the switch is defective.
Fix the problem by installing a new change lever assembly - part number for 2000 and 2001 MPV's is LC62-46-10XE with MSRP of $246.90. 2002-2004 would be a LD47-46-10XB with MSRP of $250.40.

I had the same darn problem for about a year... ignition key wouldn't turn to to the position where it could be removed unless I pushed on the gear shifter while in Park. Just today, no matter how I jiggled the shifter, I couldn't remove the key. Did exactly as you said and removed the 10amp Hazards light fuse from the fuse box near my left leg, and voila!!, the key came out no problem. Great fix!!!! (mazda mpv '02)

I had the same problem and removed the hazard fuse. This worked perfectly! Who needs your hazard lights anyway!

yes you can pull theb fuse for the hazard lights an the key will come out but your turn signals will not work either if you do that.
