Mechanical Engineering - Straws and paperclips

Expert: Aroosh Shahbazian - 4/13/2008

Question
My son for a science project has to build a straw structure out of only straws and paperclips.  What is the best way to do this to hold the highest possible weight?  We are working on this today so if you could respond ASAP I would appreciate it.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Janet

science projects are given for students to come-up with their own method of doing things, I recommend to let him think about it and make something of his own, he may have be the worst one in the class but at the same time he will be the only one who made his own.
good luck
