About Al Hall Expertise I can answer questions concerning: electric power generation, boilers, turbines, thermodynamic efficiency, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, computer modeling, PEPSE modeling expert
I can not answer questions regarding: electricity, generators, circuit analysis, controls, mechanics of materials, structural design, chemistry, and civil engineering
Experience I have 20 years experience working for electric power generators all over the US, as well as the world. I have taught courses in power plant performance testing, I have written subroutines for the PEPSE software (the Cadillac of the power plant modeling software). I have experience with fluidized bed combustion. I have experience with a variety of projects designing equipment, modifying processes, evaluating equipment life using NDT techniques.

My name is Robin and I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I am interested in becoming an aerospace engineer and for my career class my teacher asked me to interview an expert at aerospace engineer and learn more about it. Thank you for helping me.
1. What can mechanical engineers branch into?
2. Can a mechanical engineer work as an aerospace engineer? And vice versa?
3. Why is communication so important in becoming an aerospace engineer?
4. What other types of engineer would an mechanical engineer usually work with?
Thank you for answering my questions
Answer Hi Robin. Engineers can branch into any field they desire, provided that someone is willing to pay them, and support them. I think that Mechanical Engineering is probably the broadest type of engineering, and is easily molded to another discipline.
Yes, see question #1 answer.
Communication is important in ANYTHING you do. Without it, things will get very messed up, as your work is not what is truly desired.
#4 - That depends upon what you are working on. You could be working with any other type of engineer you could dream of, depending on what you are working.
