Question I OPERATE AN STEAM BOILER by using Hydrogen gas and Napthha as fuel to generate high pressure steam ( 300 celsius, 69 bar ) for sending to customer. Could you please advise me the formular how to calculate this steam boiler efficiency abd which parameter do I need to use for this boiler efficiency calculation. Remark : This boiler is Fired tube boiler and its max capacity is 14 T/h of steam production.
Any advise, plese let me know
Appreciate for your kind support
Regards
Kate
Answer I think you need to know the heating value of the fuel, the air inlet temperature, the stack temperature, the composition of the exhaust gases, the gas flow rate, the water rate and the inlet enthalpy. That is ENERGY IN. ENERGY OUT is Flow rate times outlet enthalpy. OUT divided by IN is efficiency. But be careful: There are a couple of different efficiencies, so choose the right one for your purposes. Example: Efficiency based on higher heating value of the fuel is lower than that based on lower heating value.
I think you must find a suitable book and study it.
