Medical College of Georgia - hello nice to meet you i would...

Expert: J.P. Saleeby, MD - 5/7/2005

Question
hello nice to meet you i would like to know about the syllables of medicine i just want to know whether this course is stressful and difficult or not

Answer
Teresa,

Medical school is very stressful.  If you don't handle stress very well, you should consider an other occupation.  The first two didactic years are very full of stress, long hours at study and little sleep.  Lots of material to cover in very short time.  The first year is the "weed out year".. and many that the system does not think will make it usually drop out within the first 12 months.  I don't recommend it for the timid or whimpy... you will not know the definition of study or hard work until you start med school.

Hope that helps.
