About Trisha Torrey, Every Patient's Advocate
Expertise
When you want to learn more about your diagnosis, medical tests, prescription drugs, talking to your doctor, or just want to find credible and reliable health or medical information on the internet, I can help steer you in the right direction. I'm not a doctor, nor a medical professional. I'm a patient safety, consumerism and advocacy specialist who believes patients do themselves a favor by finding reliable information on the internet, then sharing it with their health care providers.

Experience
I am a consultant in patient advocacy and consumerism. I'm a newspaper columnist, radio talk show host, seminar leader, and owner of two websites to help those who want to learn more about their diseases or conditions: diagKNOWsis.org and EveryPatientsAdvocate.com

Organizations

Publications
EveryPatientsAdvocate.com, syracuse.com (Syracuse Post Standard -- daily newspaper)

Publications
About.com's Guide to Patient Empowerment (http://patients.about.com) EveryPatientsAdvocate.com, syracuse.com (Syracuse Post Standard -- daily newspaper)

Education/Credentials
Bachelors and Masters degrees in education. Marketing consultant for 25 years. This work, however, stems from a misdiagnosis I suffered in 2004 when I was told I had a rare cancer. I was able to do the necessary research to prove I had no cancer at all.

Awards and Honors
Named CNN's Hero of Patient Empowerment, 2008

Expert: Trisha Torrey, Every Patient's Advocate - 2/28/2009

Question
I HAVE SEEN A CARDIOLOGIST FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS NOW AND HE HAS RAN EVERY TEST ON ME FROM CARDIAC CATH TO A MONITER...MY QUESTION IS I HAVE PVC'S SO HE SAYS I HAVE BUT THIS MORNING IT FELT LONG..I CALLED HIM AND ALL HE SAYS IS EVERYTHING IS FINE...IF THATS TRUE WHY DO I FEEL SO BAD AFTER I HAVE THEM?

Answer
Kimberly,

I can certainly understand why this makes you nervous. For your own piece of mind, and to improve your understanding of your medical situation, I would get a hold of your medical records and test results, then find a second opinion doctor to help you. Any good doctor will welcome a second opinion, too, so don't feel nervous about doing that.

Here's some information to help you get your medical records:
http://patients.about.com/od/yourmedicalrecords/a/getmedrecords.htm

And some more to help you choose a second opinion doctor:
http://patients.about.com/od/therightdoctorforyou/a/findsecondopin.htm

To learn more about your PVC episodes:

Best of luck to you.  I hope all this puts your mind at ease.
