About Lance Sultzbaugh Expertise How to find info about clinical medical research, experimental pharmaceuticals, and scholarly publishing, with an emphasis in online resources.
Question is there any link between the hormonal contraception methods and increased risk of breast, cervical, or endometrial cancer? if so, where can i find research on it?
Answer Darren,
One source is the PDR. It contains the so-called 'label' for prescription medications, and this label (package insert) is required to give notice of known carcinogenic risks associated with use of a medication. You would have to review each medication separately by either brand name of generic name. Another excellent source are the pages developed and maintained by the US National Institutes of Health at:
www.nih.gov
There you will find a great deal of authoritative information on this topic, as well as access to the National Library of Medicine search engine (PubMed).
Additionally, I would recommend the search engine at:
www.scirus.com
Be careful with this because it can retrieve a large volume of only marginally relevant information, so you need to focus your search.
