Question I'm planning to go into private practice when I get licensure as a mental health counselor. How do I learn how to bill Medicaid and private insurance companies? I can't take Medicare.
Answer You need to contact Medicaid and ask them about getting a provider number to bill the Medicaid patients. They will have the information that you need to bill mental health. You need to check with the private insurance companies and see if you can get in their network. I would check with your specialty association to get help with billing or contact a billing service who knows mental health. If you need a referral, could probably help you.
