Has your medical insurance company denied your claim and refuses to pay? Have you received a pre-authorization and still your insurance company refuses to pay? How can you get your insurance company to reverse a denied claim? How do you get a provider to waive your copayment if you are financially unable to pay? Can a provider sue you for a unpaid bill and will they? Can a provider send me to a collection agency for a medical bill? If my insurance company does not pay, am I responsible? If you have these questions or others on why your insurance company is not paying your bills, I can help. I can give you "tricks of the trade" to get your insurance company to pay. I have limited knowledge on Medicare and Medicaid and that is not my expertise. Each state is very different regarding Medicare and Medicaid so you need to review their website when you have questions. So please no Medicare or Medicaid questions!!

Experience
In the medical field for over 20 years spending majority of time in the collections aspect.

Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance, HMO problems - Louisiana Medicaid

Question
I was living in Gonzalez, LA for about 6 months. While I was down there I found out I was pregnant and immmediately went and got Louisiana Medicaid insurance so I could start going to a doctor and get prenatal vitamins. Hurricane Gustav came and I decided to evacuate. I took all of my things and came back to Tennessee where I was originally from and decided to stay and not go back to Louisiana. I am now trying to get on TennCare. I've been approved but am on hold because my medicaid is still active in Louisiana. I have been trying to cancel Louisiana Medicaid for 3 WEEKS now. I've talked to NUMEROUS people and they all tell me to call the 1-888-342-6207 number which is the Medicaid hotline number for cancellation. THAT NUMBER IS DISCONNECTED! and NO ONE can give me any other number or anyone else to talk to. Do you know of ANY other way to cancel Louisiana Medicaid or have any idea of who I should talk to or a number I should call? I am 7 months pregnant now and haven't seen a doctor in 2 months because I have no insurance in Tennessee. PLEASE HELP!!

Answer
Hi Kala!

The phone number you have is the one that is listed on LA's Medicaid website.  However I have pasted info for you that may help--is the the LA Department of Health who supports the Medicaid program.

Call them to see if they can help you.

Good Luck!
Tricia
