Question
I was widowed 3 years ago. I am juvenile diabetic and extremely brittle. I was on the insulin pump up to 4 months ago when i ran out of supplies on hand and couldn't afford to buy out of pocket as i do my insulin& testing supplies. I have applied for Medicaid 4 times over the past 2yrs. My 2 kids are covered under chip thank God. I am a student and can't work full time. the only income we have is ss death benefit which is 2400 a month. I don't understand how as a single mother with such a severe illness i can't get medicaid? Is there someone I can write to to make an exception in this case?

Answer
Medicaid is determined by income and you may be over the limit for your state. I would definitely contact your state senator and your congressperson as these are federal funds that are administered by the states. I would also check with your doctor to see if he or she can make a connection with a company that helps people like you.

Merry
