Question My mom lives in Central Oregon, approximately one hour to two hours from Boise ID. In July of 2007, she underwent a coronary bypass graft. During her recovery, my two sisters and I assisted her with her regular ADLs. However, we all reside in the Portland Metro area and would have to return home to our work and families. it was recommended that she participate in cardiac rehab about 12 weeks post op. Unfortunately, cardiac rehab is not available in her town. She would have to drive to Boise to participate. While that it would not be unreasonable for her to go to Boise while we were able to help her, she could not drive herself the distance and do her rehab. Since that time period, she also had carpal tunnel surgery with about a six week post op recovery. She decided to go west of the mountains, where my sisters and I live so that is necessary, we can help take care of her. She had her primary cardiologist in Baker City Oregon, write a prescription for the rehab. Made an appointment in Vancover Washington was all set to go, when the doctors office canceled stating that it wouldnt be covered by medicaid since it was more than six months since her surgery. How do we go about learning the medicaid rules in our state, as well as appealing her right for the appropriate care and treatment. thanks for your help.
Answer Hi Laura
You asked about Medicaid, so that is what I will address.
I am in Michigan, and since the regulations vary from State to State, I will do the best I can.
Best way to get an answer is to talk with her case worker.
To find answers on the web, you can usually go to the State web site===scroll and click on either Medicaid or social services====go to publications====then go to manuals====and search for the information you want.
